Closed in 1997, the former facility of the Pabst Brewing Company’s was once as renowned in Milwaukee for its brewery tours as it was the beverage it produced there.
Since 2006 it has been known simply as The Brewery, after the complex began renovations into mixed use site for residential, office, and retail space.
Redevelopment continued at a slow drip over the following decade, bringing the addition of a hotel, apartments, and academic locations. Progress began to accelerate over the past couple years, with the addition of student housing, and the conversion of the old German Methodist Church into a new Pabst Brewery. Vacant lots are scheduled for construction and empty buildings are seeing a revival.
